25th Annual Let Their Light Shine
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the 2019 Let Their Light Shine campaign during the holiday season. Hospice PEI raised over $26,000, making this our most successful Let Their Light Shine campaign to date.
This year marks 25 years of Let Their Light Shine. Your support helps Hospice PEI to continue to provide client services throughout our volunteer programs and allows us to offer community education for the many Island families who are dealing with a life-limiting illness and the grief that follows the loss of their loved ones.
We appreciate the generous support of the Charlottetown Mall for their continued support in hosting us during the campaign, the Charlottetown Mall Merchants Association for donating new signs to our campaign, and to Maritime Electric for this year’s donation to help with switching to LED lighting to help us go green.
We can't thank everyone enough for another successful Let Their Light Shine campaign.
Dancing With The Stars
What a night. Our stars raised $55,000 for Hospice PEI! Click here to go to our Dancing With The Stars Facebook page to check out what the stars and pros final efforts looked like. A lot of sweat and equity went into their fundraising as well as their dance rehearsals. We are eternally grateful to the pros and stars for making this event the success that it was.
Our dancers this year were:
Loretta Coady-MacAulay, with partner Rod Weatherbie.
People's Choice Award winners
Linda Dow, with partner Jack Lessard.
Kelley Mooney, with partner Jordi Segers.
Judge's Choice Award winners
Damien Packwood, with partner Kashena Collins.
Buffie Boily, with partner Ellen Velez.
We could not pull off this amazing event without our wonderful pros, who not only provide their time, expertise, and passion to this event, but also share their dance studios with us and their partners. Thank you DownStreet Dance Studio for hosting our meet & greets, as well as Ballroom Barn, Soul Play, and Dance Virtuosa. You are all the best!
We also want to extend a big thank you to Louise Vessey for being our photographer for the evening, to Pat Martel for capturing the night with his videography skills, to all the other behind the scenes volunteers for their generous gift of time and skills, and to anyone who contributed to this event in any capacity.
'An Afternoon With John McDermott
The Stompin' Tom Connors Centre was the venue for 'An Afternoon with John McDermott' on Sunday, September 29th, 2019. This fundraiser was a sold out event in support of Hospice PEI, and was organized by Brian Hogan in memory of his wife Bev Hogan, who was a long-time Hospice PEI volunteer.
Almost $5000 was raised for Islanders and their families who are living with a life-limiting illness. We send our sincere thanks to Brian for all the hard work he put in to make this event so successful, and thank you to all of our behind the scenes volunteers as well. We appreciate you!
Living The Island, A Ceilidh For Hospice PEI, featuring John McDermott
Hospice PEI East Prince Chapter is very pleased to announce that their ceilidh, Living The Island, A Ceilidh For Hospice PEI, featuring John McDermott, on September 28, 2019, was a huge success! This ceilidh was held at the historic St. Mary's Church, home of the Indian River Festival. Over $12,000 was raised in support of Hospice PEI. Proceeds from this event will go towards Hospice PEI services that support Islanders with a life-limiting illness and their families, as they journey through illness, death, and grief.
Emily Schurman was the emcee for the evening with guest performances by Ava and Lily Rashed, highland dancers Samantha MacKay and Emily Austin, step dancers Jacqueline Moase, Charlie MacLaren, and Alizée Cyr-Comeault, and fiddlers Robert Gallant and Cathy Campbell with Darlene Harding.
We want to send a huge thank you to the generous folks at the Indian River Festival for being our host sponsor.
